Q: The text covers all areas and ideas of the subject appropriately and provides an effective index and/or glossary
The text covers all areas and ideas of the subject appropriately, however instead of adding reference in the end it should be added after the end of every chapter to make as ready reference to the reader.
Comprehensiveness Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: Content is accurate, error-free and unbiased
The author wrote everything in an unbiased manner but still the content can be improved and updated further.
Content Accuracy Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: Content is up-to-date, but not in a way that will quickly make the text obsolete within a short period of time. The text is written and/or arranged in such a way that necessary updates will be relatively easy and straightforward to implement
Yes, the content is up to date. The cases might be required to update after every five years. The new cases may be added such as to replace the apple case on page 14.
Relevance Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: The text is written in lucid, accessible prose, and provides adequate context for any jargon/technical terminology used
Yes, the text is written in a very clear manner. However, I have cited one problem as below:
Some tables are split into two pages that becomes difficult for reader to understand e.g., table 1.1
Clarity Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: The text is internally consistent in terms of terminology and framework
The text is internally consistent in terms of terminology and framework.
The terminology and symbols are explained coherently. Each section has specific learning objectives. Nevertheless, key take away may be added at end of each chapter
and key take-away concepts.
Consistency Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is easily and readily divisible into smaller reading sections that can be assigned at different points within the course (i.e., enormous blocks of text without subheadings should be avoided). The text should not be overly self-referential, and should be easily reorganized and realigned with various subunits of a course without presenting much disruption to the reader.
Yes, I agree.
Modularity Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The topics in the text are presented in a logical, clear fashion

Organization Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is free of significant interface issues, including navigation problems, distortion of images/charts, and any other display features that may distract or confuse the reader
Yes, I agree to the above point. Some suggestions might be:
• One or two cases could have been solved enabling the reader to think critically.
• Few multiple-choice questions could be added in each chapter.
Interface Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: The text contains no grammatical errors
No grammatical or spelling errors could be found.
Grammar Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is not culturally insensitive or offensive in any way. It should make use of examples that are inclusive of a variety of races, ethnicities, and backgrounds

Q: The text covers all areas and ideas of the subject appropriately and provides an effective index and/or glossary
Yes, the text covers all the relevant areas of the subject "Organizational Behavior". There are proper definitions of all the important terms of the subject and the index at the end is useful to search for any required terms and definitions. Most chapters have "key terms" at the end which is also a very helpful resource for the students. The most commonly covered topics under Organizational Behavior are covered as well as sometimes less discussed topics like stress and well being are also covered in the book. Overall, quite comprehensive coverage of the subject as a whole.
Comprehensiveness Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: Content is accurate, error-free and unbiased
Usually all the diagrams, tables and supplementary material is very good. However, there are some editing/formatting issues, like on page 255, there is a a mention about table 8.2 after which, the whole page is blank and Table 8.2 is on the next two pages.
Similarly, on page 297, there is just one word (incongruence) from the previous paragraph/page, (which could be adjusted there) and then there is an exhibit.
The references are mentioned accurately with superscripts throughout the text. Even though examples have been used of different cultures and their impact on leadership styles, persuasion styles and communication patterns, these are based on various studies and are free from personal judgement and bias.
Content Accuracy Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: Content is up-to-date, but not in a way that will quickly make the text obsolete within a short period of time. The text is written and/or arranged in such a way that necessary updates will be relatively easy and straightforward to implement
The main concepts of Organizational Behavior will not become obsolete in a short period of time. These have been well explained. However, with time, the examples of various companies or references of different studies will have to be updated and these updates are relatively easy to implement. The overall basic content and its explanation is well written and will not become obsolete soon.
Relevance Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is written in lucid, accessible prose, and provides adequate context for any jargon/technical terminology used
Interesting "beginnings" of topics in each chapter create readers' interest and later in the text definitions provide more clarity to the topics. Overall writing style keeps the reader interested in the text and addition of figures/tables/examples makes the topics more interesting and gives something to ponder upon. Learning outcomes of each chapter, key terms, summary all help to create a flow of learning and it is quite useful for instructors as well as students.
Clarity Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is internally consistent in terms of terminology and framework
The book follows a similar pattern throughout the chapters, starting with a case study/example and then leading to chapter concepts. There is consistency of terminology and presentation of facts and subject matter throughout the book.
Each chapter is divided into sub topics and each sub topic, where required is further subdivided into smaller units. The division is also clear with the font size of topics and sub-topics. Where required, tables and figures are used to explain topics which has sub-parts. The text under each section is also organized into paragraphs and or bullet points
As previously mentioned, just some formatting issues cause a little disruption, like on page 325, the explanation of various stages of Team Development, after the forming and storming stage, there is a lot of space on the page which is left blank, where as the next stages could also be explained here.
Other than these formatting issues, there is no problem in the reading sections throughout the book.
Modularity Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The topics in the text are presented in a logical, clear fashion
All the topics and subtopics are clearly and logically explained, using examples where required and using references to various studies. Skills application exercises, managerial decision exercises and critical thinking cases help to revise and reinforce the concepts.
Organization Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is free of significant interface issues, including navigation problems, distortion of images/charts, and any other display features that may distract or confuse the reader
As mentioned previously, there are some places in the book, where the table/figure/exhibit is either moved to the next page or there is a lot of vacant space on the page, as on Page 255 and again on Page 258 and Page 325. These minor issues can be resolved through proper formatting of the pages and alignment/resizing of figures/exhibits.
Interface Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: The text contains no grammatical errors
Overall no grammatical or spelling errors were observed.
Grammar Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is not culturally insensitive or offensive in any way. It should make use of examples that are inclusive of a variety of races, ethnicities, and backgrounds
Examples are used from all countries/cultures without bias. No offensive or insensitive language was observed throughout the text. While giving examples of great leadership styles, mostly examples of male leaders have been used. There clearly seems to be no intention of making this sexually oriented, however, it will be nice to see more examples of women leaders and the decisions taken by them which affected the companies positively.
Cultural Relevance Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: Are there any other comments you would like to make about this book, for example, its appropriateness in a Canadian context or specific updates you think need to be made?
Yes, I would recommend this book to diploma as well as degree students. Organizational Behavior is a very important subject in most business/hospitality diplomas and degrees and I would highly recommend this book due to its fresh examples, comprehensive coverage of all relevant topics and lot of practice exercises.
