Q: The text covers all areas and ideas of the subject appropriately and provides an effective index and/or glossary
Yes, the text covers all areas and ideas of the subject appropriately. It also provides a short glossary that captures the most important concepts covered in the text.
The textbook provides sufficient details about entrepreneurship and gives enough contextual information for people who do not even have background knowledge about the subject. It provides a micro and macro perspective to the topic and is sufficient to give students a detailed overview of the topic of entrepreneurship.
Each of the 10 chapters are essential and all 10 chapters combined touch on the core of entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the work of most important researchers on entrepreneurship are referenced in this text. This text can help entrepreneurship students excel in theory and practice.

Q: Content is up-to-date, but not in a way that will quickly make the text obsolete within a short period of time. The text is written and/or arranged in such a way that necessary updates will be relatively easy and straightforward to implement
Absolutely. As the title implies, this text is a toolkit and designed as one. The content is up-to-date and arranged in a way that will allow updates to be made easily. This text will be relevant for a very long time.
Relevance Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is written in lucid, accessible prose, and provides adequate context for any jargon/technical terminology used
Yes, the text is written in clear language.
All necessary definitions are provided.
Clarity Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is internally consistent in terms of terminology and framework
Yes the text is internally consistent in terms of terminology and framework.
Consistency Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: The text is easily and readily divisible into smaller reading sections that can be assigned at different points within the course (i.e., enormous blocks of text without subheadings should be avoided). The text should not be overly self-referential, and should be easily reorganized and realigned with various subunits of a course without presenting much disruption to the reader.
The text can be easily and readily divided into smaller reading sections and it will still make sense to the reader. The text is well labelled with heading and sub-headings throughout such that the reader knows what they are currently reading about and how it relates to the current chapter and the entire text.
Modularity Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The topics in the text are presented in a logical, clear fashion
The text presents topics in a logical and clear fashion.
Historical background and definitions are provided where necessary.
Important points are listed in a clear way and then discussed in detail.
Organization Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is free of significant interface issues, including navigation problems, distortion of images/charts, and any other display features that may distract or confuse the reader
There are no interface issues. The images in color format are clearer than the images in black and white (as can be expected). For example, in the print version of the text, Figure 7 (the social entrepreneurship zone) appears to have been copied from another source. Perhaps the image could be clearer if an original diagram was made.
Furthermore, the labels in Figure 3 were too small. Perhaps, dedicating a full page to accommodate that image (business model canvas) in a landscape orientation could be advantageous. Also, showing a complete example of the canvas for a known business could be helpful to show readers how to complete the business model canvas.

Q: The text covers all areas and ideas of the subject appropriately and provides an effective index and/or glossary
Yes, the content was more comprehensive then I expected - it is a great text to use as a starting point for courses in entrepreneurship and or innovation.
Comprehensiveness Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: Content is accurate, error-free and unbiased
The content is well supported and is accurate and error free. The only issue I found was the discussion on "non-traditional" or "other" types of entrepreneurship (beyond starting a business was good, however it was not integrated throughout the text. The language throughout was quite business focused and I think it would benefit the text to talk about entrepreneurship at a higher level throughout so its not about starting a business, OR applying the entrepreneurial skills to other non-business areas.
Content Accuracy Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: Content is up-to-date, but not in a way that will quickly make the text obsolete within a short period of time. The text is written and/or arranged in such a way that necessary updates will be relatively easy and straightforward to implement
Similar point to the accuracy point before this one - I think if the concept of entrepreneurship was less business focused throughout, it would have greater longevity and a much broader reach / relevance.
Relevance Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: The text is written in lucid, accessible prose, and provides adequate context for any jargon/technical terminology used
It was great! Certain sections (types of entrepreneurs) we very densely cited, but the language used was accurate and appropriate.
Clarity Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is internally consistent in terms of terminology and framework
Yes - consistent terms are used throughout.
Consistency Rating: 5 out of 5

The text should not be overly self-referential, and should be easily reorganized and realigned with various subunits of a course without presenting much disruption to the reader.
Yes - the text is well structured and would be easy to use as part of classes related to entrepreneurship and or innovation.
Modularity Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The topics in the text are presented in a logical, clear fashion
Yes, the flow of information is highly logical and easy to follow.
Organization Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is free of significant interface issues, including navigation problems, distortion of images/charts, and any other display features that may distract or confuse the reader
Yes - I think more images / visuals would have been beneficial - as it stands it's very text heavy and would benefit from more visual aids.
Interface Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: The text contains no grammatical errors
None that I picked up on in my review
Grammar Rating: 5 out of 5
Q: The text is not culturally insensitive or offensive in any way. It should make use of examples that are inclusive of a variety of races, ethnicities, and backgrounds
Similar to earlier comments, the "other" types of entrepreneurs are touched on, but are kept in a separate section rather than weaved throughout. I think the text would improve is D&I / relevancy if it had the other types of entrepreneurship embedded throughout the text in examples, case studies, etc.
Cultural Relevance Rating: 4 out of 5
Q: Are there any other comments you would like to make about this book, for example, its appropriateness in a Canadian context or specific updates you think need to be made?
Yes! I will use it in two of my courses.
